Follow the thread

COPD is complex. A tangled mix of inflammatory pathways, immune cells and cytokines that all contribute to its debilitating symptoms.

While all attention has been on eosinophilic inflammation, due to new therapies that are able to address it, everyone seems to have forgotten one fundamental aspect of COPD - that it is primarily a neutrophilic disease.

We created an award-winning medical education programme that reminded HCPs that, to untangle the complexity of COPD, we need to follow the thread back to ST2/IL-33 - the pathway that can control both neutrophilic and eosinophilic inflammation.
